Value-Engineering

InterCon defines the term “value engineering” as a process by which alternate means, methods and materials are investigated and compared against both the initial construction costs and future costs, such as life cycle and operation-maintenance costs. Because we perform most of our work on a design/build basis, we have become adept at incorporating a high degree of value engineered efficiencies into our projects. We strive to incorporate the most practical and cost effective building techniques for the client.

We are not of the opinion that value engineering is a process whereby project scope is eliminated from the project. In fact, we formulate comprehensive lists of alternatives that we submit to the Owner and Architect for consideration. Where applicable, we will provide product data so that all the empirical data may be considered early in the process in order to avoid both significant alteration of the design documents and costly delays.

In addition to our computer analysis systems, we have experienced pre-construction managers with architecture and engineering backgrounds. These pre-construction managers suggest practical and cost-saving value engineered alternatives resulting in a substantial savings to the owner.
